RULES:
1. Wine may be delivered to: Duplin County Cooperative Extension 165 Agriculture Dr., Kenansville, NC.
2. Please call with questions. 910-296-2143
3. Delivery dates and time: Thursday Sept. 26th 8:00am-5:00pm & Friday Sept 27th between 8:00 am – 12:00 pm. Note that the competition takes place on Friday – the day before the festival.
4. No fee to enter.
5. Each entry must include one 750 ml bottle or two 375 ml bottles, corked and capped bottles. Labels are acceptable as bottles will be covered during judging. Labels will be seen while on display at actual event.
6. Only one entry per category per entrant.
7. No commercial wineries, please.
8. No kit wines please. All wines should be homemade using real fruit.
JUDGING CRITERIA:
The wines will be judged on color, clarity, bouquet, and flavor. Wines will be judged blind. Judges will not see the wine bottle, nor will they receive any indication of which exhibitor entered the wine.
PRIZES AND RIBBON FOR EACH CATEGORY:
1st place: 6 tickets to 2025 NC Muscadine Festival and blue ribbon
2nd place: 4 tickets to 2025 NC Muscadine Festival and red ribbon
3rd place: 2 tickets to 2025 NC Muscadine Festival and white ribbon
If no wines in a category merit 1st, 2nd, or 3rd places, prizes and ribbons will not be awarded.
All entries with winners and actual ribbons will be on display at the NC Muscadine Festival inside the Duplin County Events Center in Kenansville no later than Saturday morning of the festival.
